6 trampoline parks and bounce houses where Pittsburgh kids can really jump!
With school holidays and snow days right around the corner, your family may be scrambling to keep children occupied during the long winter months. Fortunately, the Pittsburgh area offers plenty of indoor activities where kids can burn off energy. These six trampoline parks and indoor bounce houses will have kids of all ages—and their caregivers—jumping for joy.
1. Sky Zone
Billing itself as the world’s first indoor trampoline park and the inventor of “fun fitness,” Sky Zone has two Pittsburgh-area locations in Monroeville and Canonsburg. In addition to freestyle jump sessions, the center offers Foam Zone (think a giant ball pit, but with squishy foam blocks). Blacklight glow parties—complete with music and lasers—are a Friday night destination for older kids and tweens.
Looking for more of a challenge? Sky Zone has you covered. Navigate the complex parkour obstacle course, shoot hoops with an extra spring in your step on the Sky Slam court, or put your balance to the test on the wobbly Sky Ladder. Three days a week, toddlers get their hour of designated jumping time. Party packages are available for birthdays and overnight lock-ins.
2. Altimate Air
Located about 30 minutes east of Pittsburgh, Altimate Air trampoline park in North Versailles fills 14,000 square feet with horizontal and inclined trampolines for all ages and skill levels. Big kids can play dodgeball on the trampolines, work their way through a ninja obstacle course, or practice movie-style stunts on a massive airbag. There’s a bounce house for the little ones and a climbing wall for kids who want a more rugged adventure.
In addition to birthday party options, guests can purchase family packages and make a day of it. The complex includes a family-friendly sports bar and movie theater.
3. Urban Air Adventure Park
With a variety of attractions and two trampoline styles, Urban Air gives kids the power to choose their own adventure. Big kids will love the Apex trampolines, ropes course and Sky Rider air coaster. They can engage in combat with pool noodle “swords” on the Battle Beam—a balance beam spanning a soft block pit. And budding gymnasts can practice their moves on the Tumble Track. Kids 7 and under have their own trampoline area in the Bowl. Other attractions include go-karts and a tube playground. Worked up an appetite? Grab a slice of pizza and a drink in the on-site café.
Urban Air currently has locations in North Fayette and Cranberry Township, with a park slated to open in Irwin next fall.
4. Flight Fit N Fun
As its name suggests, Flight Fit N Fun in Bridgeville emphasizes the fitness benefits of jumping for all ages and ability levels. In addition to open jump sessions, a Ninja Warrior course and dodgeball, the park offers a laser race and blacklight parties on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sensory-friendly sessions take things down a notch with calm, quiet music and lower lighting. Kids 46 inches and under have the run of the park at designated times throughout the week and grown-ups can experience the benefits of bouncing during the park’s Flight Fit classes. No need to leave the kids at home. They can jump for free while their parents work out.
5. Planet Bounce
With a rotating selection of inflatables, there’s always something new to discover at Planet Bounce. The center caters to kids of all ages—from walking toddlers to 12-year-olds—and parents can even jump in (with some limitations).
Not feeling particularly bouncy? No problem. Planet Bounce offers comfortable seating, flat-screen TVs, and wi-fi for grown-ups. Other features include the Mini Martian Playground and Lunar Café, where the whole family can grab a bite to eat. Another perk: unlike many indoor play centers, kids can enjoy bounce houses, slides, and more with no time limits.
6. Giggles & Smiles
Need a break from holiday shopping? With two locations at area malls — Pittsburgh Mills and the Mall at Robinson, Giggles & Smiles gives kids a chance to let off some steam. As a bonus for parents, the center’s trained staff will supervise kids aged 4-10 for up to three hours. The indoor playground includes ball pits, slides, obstacle courses, a balance beam, soft play items, hula hoops, mini rollercoaster cars, a basketball hoop, a rock wall, and an area just for toddlers. Rates vary based on age, time and group size, plus families can rent the space for birthday parties.
Safety note: The American Academy of Pediatrics generally advises recreational trampoline use for kids, but recommends some common-sense safety measures, including constant adult supervision, protective padding, and avoidance of flips and somersaults.
