On Monday, Aug. 21, Pittsburgh Public Schools invites families to a back-to-school event at Acrisure Stadum, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Though slots for the full experience (including free haircuts for students) have all been filled, families can attend for the “drive-thru” experience, driving through Acrisure’s Gold Lot 1A to pick up supplies including “stuffed backpacks, books, sanitizing wipes, food, drinks, and more.”
The event, called #PittsburghForPPS, is designed to “empower families with the essential tools for a strong beginning to the 2023-2024 school year,” the district said in a media announcement about the event. “Our dedication to fostering meaningful family and community collaborations within every school is at the heart of this initiative. Pittsburgh Public Schools firmly believe that cultivating partnerships among schools, families, and community entities is vital to fostering a thriving academic and social journey for every student.”
If possible, arrive early: PPS says “supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.”
