Celebrate summer at Kamin Family Free Day!

With cookouts, outdoor activities, and plenty of time with friends and family, Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. What better way to celebrate than a free day at the Science Center?

Thanks to the generosity of Dan and Carole Kamin, all are invited to enjoy free general admission at the Science Center for Kamin Family Free Day on Sun., Sept. 1. Families can explore four floors of exhibits and interactives, plus Highmark SportsWorks®, and hands-on, outdoor activities with MessFest, presented by PPG.

Visitors can take part in messy science experiments in the Science Center’s front parking lot, learn about surface tension with car-length bubbles, see live demonstrations, and test their coordination with the super science dunk tank.

Other activities include:

• Make squishy slime with chemistry
• Smash strawberries to find the DNA hidden inside
• Use acids and bases to launch a rocket
• Create an artistic nebula with spin art
• Soak your friends with eco-friendly water balloons
• Dance to beats provided by local DJs

Activities are included with free general admission and open to all ages. For additional costs, visitors can attend “The Science Behind Pixar” exhibition, see films in The Rangos Giant Cinema and laser shows in Buhl Planetarium, and enjoy snacks in the RiverView Café or with on-site food trucks.
