Our 13th episode of the Kidsburgh Podcast is out and it’s the start of our new season! We’re excited to bring you more interviews with inspiring people and great advice for families.
This week’s episode is a perfect one to kick off the new year. Life coach Marlene Boas shares great advice that can help kids and adults set and achieve their goals this year. We know many parents have goals in mind for the coming months, and we asked Marlene how parents can help kids figure out their own goals and move toward them.
“If you’re going to work with kids and help them set goals, it has to be co-created. They have to have a vested interest in it,” Marlene told us.
In the beginning, parents may be more involved in helping kids pursue their goals. As they progress, the parent can step back a bit and be more of a support and cheerleader.
“We set goals from early on, even with toddlers learning to walk,” Marlene said. “We have a goal as a parent that they’re going to walk, but we help them. We hold their hands and then they hold our fingers, and we scaffold the process. We break it down to steps so they’re successful. So, we can do that with kids at any age.”
We can’t wait for you to hear the entire episode. Our podcast is hosted by the Kidsburgh team — Melissa Rayworth, Kristine Sorensen and Yu-Ling Cheng — and recorded by SLB Radio Productions. Get all the details here.
