Enormous rabbits have begun popping up Downtown — and they’ll be here all month!
If only the Giant Rubber Duck was here to see this: As of today, Downtown is home to a 50-foot rabbit, and three more giant rabbits are being inflated to complete the dramatic centerpiece of the annual Highmark First Night Pittsburgh celebration.
This morning, a team began inflating the first of the four giant rabbits, which make up an art installation called Intrude, created by Parer Studio. The installation will be on display in the Eighth Street Lot and Trust Oasis at 133 7th Street from tomorrow through Jan. 28. This enormous work of art is meant to get Pittsburghers thinking about the joy and whimsy of these playful creatures, while also sharing what the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust calls “the more serious environmental messages which form the basis of the work.”
