My Favorite Pittsburgh Thing To Do With Kids: Chef Trevett Hooper
Chef Trevett Hooper and his wife, Sarah, are co-owners of the Good Faith Restaurant Group, which includes Legume Bistro and Butterjoint in Oakland.
The Squirrel Hill couple also share five kids, who range in age from 13 months to 12 years old. They often are seen taking part in special events at the family’s restaurant.
Trevett’s pick for this favorite place to spend time with his kids was an easy answer:
“Frick Park! It’s right by our house and its free,” he says. “It’s just great to be with the trees and the running water and the birds right here in the city. Sarah and I both think that connection to the natural world is really important for kids. And so, we try to go at least once a week as a family.”
That time dedicated to hanging out together as a family is important for connecting and keeping lines of communication open, Trevett says.
“We’re very busy just with our day-to-day lives, and we’ve learned that if we don’t carve out the time to be together, it doesn’t happen.”
