
Feb. 7-9 weekend guide for Pittsburgh-area families, packed with Valentine’s crafting fun, story time events and a Super ROLL Party

This weekend is the perfect time to make some Valentine’s crafts to give to loved ones. Creative kiddos can do that at several local events. The Pittsburgh area also has a polar plunge, a night-time skiing extravaganza, and even some storytime events for those seeking a more chill atmosphere.

Friday, Feb. 7-Sunday, Feb. 9: Valentine’s Day Scent Workshop
This walk-in event is open to kids and parents through Valentine’s Day at PSquare Scents in Bellevue. Kids can make a custom soap, candle or even lip balm to keep or gift to a loved one. The cost ranges from $3 to $16 based on the item chosen. No registration is required, but more details can be found here.

Friday, Feb. 7: Dew After Dark at Seven Springs, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
What’s better than night skiing? Skiing with an extra jolt of energy. Seven Springs is hosting Dew After Dark with free Mountain Dew for skiers, a DJ, and other entertainment, as well as a chance to win some prizes. This event is free, though a lift ticket is required to ski, snowboard or tube. Check out the details here.
Friday, Feb. 7: Pittsburgh Super Plunge at Hard Rock Cafe, 6 p.m.
This group of Special Olympics supporters will take the plunge into the icy river 24 times in one night to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics PA. Please join the folks along the shore in cheering the plungers, while enjoying refreshments and live entertainment from Jeff Jimmerson and Airborne inside, as well as Burnett from Fireside Events outside. Saturday, Feb. 8: Storytime at Riverstone Books, 9:30 a.m.
Come to McCandless Crossing for a free storytime designed for young learners at Riverstone Books. Each week features a different theme and a chance to make new friends. Find more information here.
Saturday, Feb. 8: Storytime at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, 10:15 am. to 11 a.m.
This weekend and next weekend are the final two storytimes for this season at the museum. Meet at the entrance to Dinosaurs in Their Time for a hands-on and interactive story session that is included in regular admission to the museum. Check out all the details right here.

Saturday, Feb. 8: I Made It! Mine Valentine’s Market, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come out to the Block at Northway for I Made It! Market’s annual Valentine’s event. Find locally-made goods from dozens of local artisans to delight your little sweeties this year and take a moment to ask the professional crafters about their creative work. Saturday, Feb. 8: Winterfest 2025 at Moraine State Park, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Explore the park’s many activities and breathtaking sights during the heart of winter. Many animals are more active in the winter, and it’s a great way to explore this state park through a fresh lens. Guests will find food and craft vendors, too. Admission is free. Details can be found here.
Sunday, Feb. 9: “Birds Have a Lot to Say” Storytime at Beechwood Farms, 11 a.m.
Come join the environmental educators at Beechwood Farms for a fun storytime and learn what the birds in your backyard are saying. This event costs $20 and registration can be found here.

Sunday, Feb. 9: Teen and Tween Galentine’s Party, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
This weekend, Vintage Max Mercantile will host two separate events for tweens (ages 8-13) and teens (14 to 18) at its Bellevue bookstore. The cost for each session is $30, or $40 for two tickets. Kids will make bracelets, decorate cupcakes, and more. Purchase tickets here.

Sunday, Feb. 9: Super Roll Sunday at Velum Fermentation, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Families are invited to this all-ages skate session during the big game. While parents watch, kids can skate around the concrete floor. Some skates will be available to borrow, but you can also bring your own. Adults are $10 and kids are $5. Food trucks will be on-site, too. Find details here.
