It’s time again for the Learn and Earn Summer Youth Employment program through the city of Pittsburgh. This program allows teens to earn money while learning about city government and civics. The program is open to residents of Allegheny County who are between the ages of 14 and 24. The application period for this program is now open for corporate positions and opens for general positions on March 10. To understand the program better, be sure to check out their recap video of the summer 2022 program:

Youth who apply for the corporate internship program, which is for employees aged 18-24, will earn $12 per hour. They can work up to 30 hours per week and will gain experience in the fields of finance, health care, government, education, non-profit, workforce development, and more.

For youth ages 14-21, the general Learn and Earn program pays $9 per hour and employees are able to work up to 25 hours per week. There are various roles available throughout the city that will help participants gain valuable skills. Many of these positions end up being recurring summer jobs for the teen participants.

Please contact summer@partner4work.org if your youth needs special accommodations to participate in this program. For children under the age of 18 who are enrolled in school or registered to homeschool, the income from this program will not effect their family’s eligibility for public benefits.
