As Pittsburgh Public School District continues rethinking the use of their buildings to improve equity, efficiency and the quality of education, they are hosting a second round of community listening sessions.

During these sessions, attendees will be able to use an online tool via their phones to weigh in on recommended changes specific to their region, as well as changes to the District’s magnet offerings. Attendees can also ask questions and voice concerns.

The sessions, each taking place in the designated school’s auditorium from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., are happening in these locations on these dates (and will be live streamed on the district’s Facebook page).

Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Allegheny K-5/6-8 (810 Arch St., Pittsburgh, 15212)

Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Allderdice High School (2409 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh, 15217)

Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Carrick High School (125 Parkfield St., Pittsburgh, 15210)

So far, the district says they have received nearly 11,000 individual responses from students, staff, families and community members through a collection of surveys and polls, and they are seeking more input.

“Since releasing our Draft Facilities Utilization Plan in March, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to elevating the voices of parents and families through an extensive community engagement process,” said Superintendent Dr. Wayne N. Walters in a press release on Aug. 22.

“As we enter this second phase of engagement,” Walters said, “we are eager to hear from all stakeholders, ensuring that this challenging conversation is one the entire community can undertake together.”
