In the first-ever Kidsburgh Cookie Table workshop with cookie activist Jasmine Cho on Feb. 6, families and pint-sized pastry chefs tuned in from the United Kingdom, Finland, Canada, across the nation and, of course, Pittsburgh. Families learned how to make Love Letter Cookies. These breakable cookies unveil hidden messages inside. The cookie is sure to delight that special someone for Valentine’s Day! Families learned pro tips in making Jasmine’s award-winning vanilla bean (or chocolate) sugar cookies with royal icing.
Jasmine M. Cho is a Pittsburgh-based artist, author, and cookie activist most known for using portrait cookies to elevate representation for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. She is also a Food Network Champion (“Christmas Cookie Challenge” Season 3, Episode 8).
