Northside teens discuss obstacles to employment
The Hear Me project, an initiative of the CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University, amplifies students’ voices using media and technology to create a world where they are heard, acknowledged and understood–giving them the power to inspire social change.
For the past eight months, Hear Me has worked with the Buhl Foundation and the One Northside initiative to create an agenda for progress and better community for all Northside residents.
In its most recent monthly podcast, Hear Me interviewed 54 teens in 18 Northside neighborhoods about youth employment. While over 90% of interviewees said they wanted a job, many faced significant obstacles to getting one. Listen to the podcast below to find out more.
