It almost sounds like science fiction, but it’s real. Right here in Pittsburgh, biomedical engineers are helping people use only their brains to control robotic arms. Want to know more? The Kidsburgh team wraps up the second season of our podcast with an episode we hope you’ll love.

Our hosts, Melissa Rayworth, Yu-Ling Cheng and Kristine Sorensen, sit down with Jennifer Collinger and Robert Gaunt of the University of Pittsburgh’s department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to learn all about the incredible research they’re doing and the progress they’ve made helping people who are recovering from brain injuries.

We also share details about a very cool place in Pittsburgh that you might not know about: Citizen Science Lab.

The non-profit Citizen Science Lab does amazing work in the South Hills and Hill District, where they invite the community in for fun science classes designed for kids. From anatomy, astronomy and biology to chemistry, engineering, physics, technology and even zoology, it’s a place where your child might just get inspired to pursue their own science career.

And before we sign off at the end of the episode, you can spend a few moments with the Tea with Teens team, who report on this question: What are local students most excited about doing this summer?
