It’s been more than two decades since the final episode of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” aired on TV. But Fred Rogers’ impact continues to ripple out through Pittsburgh and beyond, helping parents, grandparents and teachers as they raise the next generation of kids.

Recently, Pittsburgh’s Remake Learning network shared a new publication that helps parents tap into the wisdom of Fred Rogers and the child development ideas he used so effectively in creating his beloved TV series.

As you read this booklet, called “Wonder With Us,” the folks at Remake Learning encourage you to wonder along with them, asking: How might all of us bring more wonder, more belonging and more joy to the kids you love?

“Wonder With Us” explores things like how Fred Rogers used slow, quiet and even silent moments to give kids the space to wonder, and how spending quiet time with simple materials — anything from spare buttons to spoons — can spark curiosity and ideas in even the youngest kids.

Other sections explore concepts like helping young learners try new things and helping them learn to be good neighbors.

The publication is free and available to download.
