Kids have a million questions. And we’ve learned from Mister Rogers that when those questions are answered by caring adults — and caring adults do their own questioning and wondering alongside kids — that’s when real learning and inspiration can happen.
In the spirit of Fred Rogers’ teaching, families in Pittsburgh and beyond can join Gregg Behr and Ryan Rydzewski (co-authors of the book “When You Wonder, You’re Learning: Mister Rogers’ Enduring Lessons for Raising Creative, Curious, Caring Kids”) and Jane Park from Google Kids and Families, as they wonder about creativity, curiosity and caring with special guest Coy Bowles from the Zac Brown Band.
Behr, Rydzewski, Park and Bowles will gather virtually on Aug. 30 for a free event called “Wonder with Us: Music, Making, and More with Coy Bowles.”
This conversation with musician, author and educator Bowles was originally planned for earlier this year during the Remake Learning Days festival as part of a series of “Wonder With Us” events. It’s designed to give kids and parents a chance to ask Bowles all about his career and creative projects, and tell him about their creative pursuits.
There will be plenty of ground to cover: Along with serving as guitarist, keyboardist, singer, and songwriter for the Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band, Bowles recently released a children’s album called “Music for Tiny Humans.” He is also a teacher, parent and author of several children’s books including “Behind the Little Red Door.” The hosts and participating families can discuss those projects and more.
This virtual event on Zoom, which begins at 7 p.m. EST on Aug. 30, is free. Click here to RSVP and get the online event link.
